Ravaye E2

Vein Finder — near-infrared vein visualisation system. Version Poly2025.

The Ravaye™ E2 uses near-infrared light to detect veins beneath the skin, then projects their position onto the skin surface directly above them. Qualified medical personnel can observe the displayed vasculature to assist in locating a vein of suitable size and position for venipuncture and other procedures requiring the location of superficial veins.

Held directly overhead, the device accurately locates the centre line of a vein. Increasing displacement from directly overhead results in an offset in the displayed position, so the centre line — not the displayed width — should always be used as the target.

Section 01

Intended use

The Ravaye™ E2 Vein Finder is intended to assist qualified healthcare professionals in visualising certain superficial veins. The device uses near-infrared illumination to enhance the visibility of subcutaneous veins, projecting their position directly onto the skin surface.

It is intended to be used as a supplement to appropriate medical training and experience. It is not a substitute for clinical judgment and should not be used as the sole method for locating veins. Practitioners should always follow the medical protocols of their facility.

Important. The device does not replace clinical judgment, standard venipuncture practice, or confirmation of vessel suitability. It is not a diagnostic device and is not intended for treatment of any kind.

Section 06

Display settings

The projection is adjustable, because vasculature, skin and room lighting are not consistent between patients.

12 options

Colour

White, yellow, purple, red, indigo, green, blue, and five paired combinations.

9 modes

Mode

Default, enhance, hair removal, guide line, and five mixture colours.

3 sizes · 6 levels

Size & brightness

Projection size L, M or S; brightness across six levels.

USB-C

Photograph

Save real-time vein images, retrievable over USB Type-C.

In practice. Default mode is used to scan a region quickly. Once a candidate vein is found, enhance mode improves visibility of deeper vasculature.

Section 05

Use and operation

  1. Position the device

Hold 20 to 26 cm above the skin surface and scan the area of interest.

  2. Centre over the vein

Ensure the projected display is centred directly above the vein’s centre line. Tilting offsets the projection from the true position beneath the skin.

  3. Optimise the image

Adjust height and angle slightly. Moving closer or further can bring additional veins into view depending on vasculature, room lighting and vein depth.

  4. Scan, then enhance

Use default mode to narrow down locations, then switch to enhance mode for deeper veins.

  5. Confirm before the procedure

Verify location and suitability using standard medical techniques — visualisation, palpation and sound clinical judgment.

Section 02 & 10

Known limitations

Stated plainly, because a procurement team will find them anyway and would rather read them here.

The device displays only superficial vasculature and does not indicate vein depth. The maximum depth at which veins are displayed varies by patient.

Display quality is affected by vein depth, skin conditions such as eczema or tattoos, hair, scarring, highly contoured skin surfaces and adipose tissue. Some patients’ veins, or a portion of them, may not display well or at all. Projection may not display veins under bright light such as direct sunlight.

The device must not be used to locate veins in the eyes, and the display light should not be shone into the eyes for a prolonged period.
